Introduced by a curious cover that looks like a screenshot taken from a vintage video game animation, the album starts with the track "Tekashi". A long intro with a spoken sample (I can't figure out where it is taken from) with a lo-fi layer of synths that for a moment makes me think that I'm listening to a Vaporwave album rather than a rap one, but then the vocals come in and take the lead. The vocal lines are catchy enough, the autotune is not too invasive, and the instrumental maintain the vapour-ish atmosphere that helps differentiate this work from a standard trap tune. Riley Beats is not reinventing the wheel but caught our attention. The vibe remain similar in the second track, the bars are delivered with confidence, everything works fine, but honestly there is not much that catches the attention, the surprise effect of the first track already wears off. The third track opens up with more energy, with aggressive synths and the two voices (Riley and the guest singer Zion Fulton) that complement each other showing great chemistry. In conclusion, this EP shows some very interesting elements, which make this work original and recognisable. There is room for improvement, and the tracks could surely benefit from a bit more variety, but the premises are promising.
