Oh yes, this one rocks. From the second the beat dropped and riff kicked into "Landfills In The Sky," I was pretty hooked. Piano (and brass-section!)-driven "progressive swamp metal" isn't a taste I've experienced before, but it's a delicious one. The first track sounds (in a very good way) like a videogame boss fight, with multiple instrumental variations on the same driving theme - something to kick ass (or work out, or study, or code) to. All (bangin') instrumentals, so even better on that front.
While in the same "straight from the fetid depths" style, each track has its own vibe and mood - "Innamoratae" is less breakneck, more loomingly-ominous build to a jazzy-piano frenetic climax. "Carpet Of My Enemies" sounds like a slow-motion-walk leading to a battlefield, oozing warrior confidence (he's got sunglasses on, regardless of time period) and trust in the bloodshed to come. "Thunderground" hits a majestic note with crystal arpeggios, and "Designer Napalm" sets off an appropriately brutal and energetic finale.
All in all, this feels like the soundtrack to an epic movie (stylishly darkly animated, in my head at least) that I can very easily visualize, which speaks to the cohesive atmosphere and audial world created by the piano-brass-synth-metal contrast. They sound like different characters/voices, and I'd like to know them all.
