In the previous review I wrote (M.A.S.R. – "Videomiracles"), I mentioned Sewerslvt in terms of the way the samples were treated, as I found a certain similarity there that I really enjoyed. In the case of p4y0n's needles into stone, I hear a much stronger inspiration from this artist, or at least from the genre she is associated with. It clearly sits within the same D&B and breakcore sound spectrum that has developed over the last decade.

Since I enjoy this style, this album was a very pleasant listen for me. Its texture deserves special mention, making heavy use of distortion and achieving a noisy sound that I absolutely love. I found it ideal to listen to while working, which is generally how I listen to this kind of music. The drum work should also be highlighted, as I really enjoyed it and found it quite rock influenced. You can hear this, for example, on the track i thought of you on new year's eve, although I have to say there are great drum passages throughout the entire album.

There is a very interesting move into noise and experimentation starting with the track a passing breeze, which is perhaps my favorite track on the album. The textures at the beginning are simply delicious, followed by a chaotic guitar that slowly pulls you into a psychedelic world of distortion. I have to say that from this point onward lies my favorite part of the album, fully embracing more experimental territory while always returning to the structures and beats of the album's core genre. Another standout track is death of the lady, which perfectly captures all the energy of the album.

I would like to make a small observation. Personally, in order to connect with a work on an emotional level, I need a bit of context. I like to understand whether there is a conceptual intention behind it, or whether the listening experience is meant to be purely sonic. This album has no description on Bandcamp, and there is not much information about the artist either. Still, I can draw some conclusions from the track titles, which seem to tell the story of an unrequited love, although that is purely speculation on my part.

In conclusion, if you enjoy D&B or breakcore, I think this album may appeal to you. It is a solid execution of the genre. And if you enjoy experimental music, you should not miss the final stretch of the album starting with a passing breeze. It is well worth it.
