This album is influenced by a lot of different genres and leads in with folk and singer songwriter vibes but with a grunge attitude, interesting sample picks and fieldrecordings (always love me some wind and rain sounds!). Deidre is not afraid of a little dissonance to capture emotion and build tension- and though I am really sensitive to discordant harmonies, especially in the high end frequencies, this totally worked for me."It´s not about you" adds some blues into the mix.
I still feel "flesh and bones" with that kind of mixture between indie guitar, lofi organ is the strongest track in the whole album, especially the start of the song really gave me goose bumps. The mix is great, too though the samples towards the end are barely audible- they add so much human element. I think this is hopecore at it´s best and works incredibly well with the skills of Deidre.
"Slowly fading away" feels a little out context and more like a synth ambient piece but I enjoyed it.
"the storm never left" ends with the same lovely singer-songwriter vibe- without the grunge but softer and with a lot of reverb and way more folk influence. Oh, hello banjo!
