What an interesting little release we have here! "Memorial Mold" collects a handful of singles recently published by the mysterious artist/group/collective(?) NO-BODY. The general vibe of the songs is characterised by a very chill atmosphere and slow tempos, but with some unsettling elements that create a sort of eerie tension that makes the listening more exciting. The robotic voices (which I'm not entirely sure whether they are vocaloid or heavily effected human voices, even though I lean towards the first) create an interesting contrast between the emotional palette of the cryptic lyrics and the mechanical way they are delivered.
The instrumental sections are in general soft and minimalistic, with some more dissonant inserts skillfully placed here and there to maintain the attention but without breaking the atmosphere. Also the instrumentation contributes to the aforementioned contrast between acoustic and synthetic sounds, with an alternance of cold and warm colours that slowly blend into each other.
I really enjoyed the songs overall. They are very well curated in the arrangements, so at each new listen it's easy to notice new things, but at the same time they are also perfect as a background for creative activities (my fist listen took place while I was writing my master's dissertation and it made the work much more pleasant). Definitely an artist to keep an eye on.
