"Sky is Falling (Chipped Remix)" is probably my favorite from the latest release from Shapeless Cube. It features a kind of fusion that most resembles Aphex Twin and Crystal Castles if they were put through a blender. For a sound explorer, this is a treat of novel variety and audio chaos.
I like the great variety of sounds: blips, scratches, glitchy staircases, and weird, wild tones. To me, it's a riot of sounds. Maybe we are living in a dystopia at this point, and we have far surpassed conflict of the "man vs man" variety and now face a "man vs machine" dystopia. It's difficult to say what is real, what is not, and which values we should cling to—or whether we should go with the fad of technological adoption.
I digress, as these tracks kind of lead me to relate them to the time we are living through, of a techno-decaying society.
In summary, the new releases from Shapeless Cube might cheer you up in our weird dystopian times, or let you feel the confusion of the times like some kind of train ride of electronic tingles for your ears.
