my two reviews on here so far have been genres that im not entirely familiar with, but this is EXACTLY up to my taste!
the first track "Samsara" is a slower paced yet aggresive song, kinda gives me soulfly meets mastodon vibes which are two bands i enjoy quite alot! the drums pack quite a heavy punch and the guitar tone is chunky in all the good ways. the track has a very sludgey sound to it that i really love, the added guitars at around 2 and a half minutes in sound especially awesome. nearing the 6 minute mark the track seems to slowly end before sending you back into an even heavier part than what youve heard before which actually caught me off guard but i love it! the vocals are also really good on this, the screams here are fucking awesome! honestly cant say anything bad about this song!
the second track "Redenção" starts off with a gloomy clean guitar intro that i vibe with alot, with some tribal sounding drums and vocals soon following it again giving me some soulfly vibes. the track continues building from there, going into this nice sort of sombre feel before jumping into a heavy section thats executed really well here! again, punchy drums, killer chunky guitar tone and awesome vocals! the part at 4:56 is especially awesome, it breaks up the slower sound the song has had so far quite nicely without feeling out of place and the bass sounds GREAT during this part. it also brings back the tribal vibe i got from the intro which i like aswell! from here the track goes into a very grand feeling part which feels very rewarding after how well the track has been building up so far, the ending felt just a tiny bit sudden but i like the very brief outro of sorts at the end! yet again, cant say anything bad about this song either!
i feel both Lizard Cult and lōtico presented themselves really well here, based off these two tracks alone i already want to check out more of their music which i likely will sometime soon! if you like progressive metal and sludge metal, im sure youre gonna enjoy this split EP!
