According to the information found on the artist's YouTube channel, "Reflections" represents:
a melancholy exploration of themes and ideas of Unity, Completeness and Pilgrimage in True Love
These interesting concepts are delivered to us in the form of carefully crafted songs, with electronic tracks creating a sonic playground for the vocals to freely explore. The atmosphere is generally chill, but with numerous shifts towards more intense moods, with some grandise cinematic moments and some dubstep incursions.
The vocals play a central role in many tracks. They are often used in a pop fashion, with catchy radio-friendly lines and some interesting virtuosisms. In other occasions, such as in the track "Pearly Purple" (one of my favourites) they are used as a purely melodic instrument, and it's in these moments where I find them reaching the peak of their expressiveness.
Overall, despite never reaching extreme musical solutions, the album keeps taking unexpected turns at every track, without getting caged in a specific style or genre but at the same time remaining cohesive and flowing well. The production is smooth and well balanced. These qualities made the listening extremely pleasant. Honestly, despite this genre not being exactly my cup of tea, when the ast track ended I was surprised about how quickly time flew during the listening, and had the album been a few minutes longer I wouldn't have minded at all.
On a final note, the album has a clear religious theme, which I am aware it can be off-putting for some people, but if you can get pass that I really suggest giving this album a try.
