Big announcement! Some people may have predicted that things were going this way but I have decided to set up a Patreon for _nsigned.
There's one primary reason for this - the site costs money to run and I need to be able to cover those costs. As time passes and the site grows, which I want it to do, those costs will only increase.
I'm so proud of this website, the community that's formed around it, and the incredible writing that it has fascilitated. It has helped me re-engage with the DIY music scene in a way that I haven't for years, and I would hate to see that become untennable. It's one of the best things I've ever done!
So for that reason I've decided to set up a Patreon.
It's important to stress that the existence of a Patreon does not affect anything about the reviewing process. Everyone can still request one review at a time, and no-one can skip the queue. It's extremely important to me that the site remain fair and that no-one is able to get better or more coverage by paying for the site.
There are two main new features that being a supporter gets you:
- You can edit your artist page by adding a bio, YouTube video, and highlighted release
- You listen to Bandcamp releases directly on the website while you navigate
Everything else remains the same and for the most part new features added to the site over time will remain available to everyone.
To subscribe, you should connect your Patreon account via the Patreon page page on this website. This will associate your Patreon pledge with your user here and unlock the features.
I really hope that if you decide to subscribe, that you enjoy the new features. I'm always open to feedback, and if you have any, the best ways to get in touch with me are via Discord or via Bluesky.
