There is something special about debut works. Sometimes, the enthusiasm and the excitement of the author(s) is evident, and they can be contagious for the listener too.
This is how I felt while listening to "MXK//EP", the debut work of artist SNYP//STR. The tracks are very fun, with acid loops, bouncy basses, and evolving percussions that combine themselves in interesting patterns. In its short duration, this EP contains a nice dose of unpredictability. In more than one occasion there are some small synth riffs that unexpectedly pop up and surprise you with their unconventional choices (especially in the second track, "Acidboost MXK//02"). The range of sounds used across the four tracks is also interesting, reflecting different moods and atmospheres. Take for example the difference between the dreamy vibe of the third track "Russeralimonophone MXK//03" and the more high-tech and fuzzy sensations of the following track "MachineXodeK MXK//04".
These things all concur in making the listening enjoyable, but as i said in the opening, another element is the freshness and the perceptible buzz that the artist must have felt while working on this release. I can totally imagine them towering on their console or computer, with a grin on their face while turning that one knob and finally obtaining the soundwave they were looking for.
I really hope this is only the first of many releases, and that the artist's passion will keep be passed on by their music.
