This track appears to be the lead single for an upcoming album. As we press play, we immediately encounter a solid rhythmic section that sets the foundations of the song with simple but effective lines and grooves.

There is no virtuosism, but the bass manages to grab our attention with a catchy riffing. The sound is quite canonical, and immediately teleports the listener to an underground goth club packed with shadowy dancing shilouettes. The guitars and the synths then make their appearance, at first almost timidly, but then they build up bit by bit.

The track works well as an instrumental, even though during the first listen I was expecting some deep baritonal vocals to appear at any time. Despite that, "Foolish Lovers" is a dynamic piece that plays subtly with the dynamics to keep things interesting, despite the slightly repetitiveness of the structure.

I don't know if the single is meant to be representative of what we will find on the upcoming album. The vibes are all in the right place, but I would hope to find a bit more variety in the rest of the songs.

Again, taken singularly the track is interesting, and I'm sure it can find its rightful place in any goth and post punk lover's playlists, whether you are in the mood for dancing or just enjoying the soft darkness painted by these synths.
