I usually never know what I am looking for when I look for new music, I know it when I found something that is aligning with my subconcious. While flipping through music and giving each new submission half a song to "zone into the music" this gem drew me in just after some seconds. I love to read the info first so I knew it was intended to listen from start to finish. Sadly I cannot deliver on the artists wish to listen to it on crappy headphones and in public transport, but yes- it is a muggy, warm day- this is why I have the rebellious pleasure of listening to this on great headphones in my cool room.
This is definitely music for the neurodivergent cinematic soundscape lovers. You will be drawn in by low, eerie cello hums and a little ticklish synth texture which rubs the good stuff in your brain. soft keys floating away on a wave of delays, some orchestral crescendo but you just hear the dying crescendo kinda deep stuff. Yeah, I was IN. And then old tape misstuned stand piano hit me hard when "& love" started and took me on an nostalgic memory ride- so much sound design done on this piece, beautiful and almost haunting. It left me in discord and that was a great thing, because "Caroline" was there and calmly led us both through a ghost town in the north of Poland and we made it to the sea. This will make sense when you hear it, I promise.
The whole album holds even more stories like this and surprises in between, absolutely worth the listen!
In short:
Highly emotional storytelling, beautiful soundscapes, great sound design
For Fans of: Bonobo, Rival Consoles, Max Cooper, Jaga Jazzist or just Music which stimulates your brain and helps to feel stuff without using many vocals.
Best to consume: As intended by the artist, but I´d play a lot of these songs while painting or processing stuff, too.
