This is an enjoyable electronic smattering of skittering rhythms, heavy pulsing bass, distant ambient waves, spiked synth solos, and head-bobbing grooves. It reminds me at times of early Autechre, occasionally Aphex Twin, but also original in its melodies and rhythms.
It starts nice with “Ambi This”, the bass dropping like a dinosaur foot that resonates the ground. Listen with headphones to get the full stereo spectrum, it’s like the patterns dance around your head like fireflies. Some songs build complex polyrhythms like “Semi-official” and “Work Out”, while others are more ambient like “Floads”.
But only until about half way, because like “Numbing Snow” songs will drop kicks and bass in the middle, setting the song off into a new interesting direction. I liked the songs with the most solid grooves, like “Lax” and “Besten”. Other interesting songs were "Kiffak" with odd samples, sparkling synths, and wavering bass throbs. Very good stuff, all told.
All around, would recommend. A very enjoyable electronic adventure. Best enjoyed with headphones while wandering through the woods or snow. Very much recommended.
