Welcome to _nsigned!

Hello!

Welcome to _nsigned, a collaborative and community driven music blog. I've built this site as an attempt to bring back something that I have personally struggled to find over the last 15 or so years. That is a place where you can post your music and find people willing to listen to it and tell you what they think. Way back in the day I used to frequent the SoundClick forums, and it was a bustling with people making all sorts of weird and wonderful music, with dozens of people willing to post reviews that bordered on editorial quality.

Since then, places like Reddit have made most of those forums feel slightly obsolete. However, the problem with those places is the sense of anonymity, not to mention that most of the subreddits either have tight restrictions on self-promotion, or are so flooded with it that it's barely worth looking at. What I want is a place where people can post their music and feel confident that someone will listen to it provide an honest opinion, where it is treated seriously, and where things like lack of money or lack of social media skills aren't going to hinder artists' ability to get heard.

It's entirely possible that I'll put this website out there and it will die immediately, or it will last a month or so and then slowly fizzle out. Whatever happens, I've only recently had a real opportunity to try it and see what happens, and that's exciting.

So, here's the situation:

  • Right now, this website only works with Bandcamp releases. Sorry about that but I had to pick something to go all in on and I think most DIY artists use it.
  • If you have music and you want it reviewed, sign up and then submit your release via the button above. To get things going I'll be reviewing as much as I can that gets posted there.
  • If you're interested in writing a review, sign up and pick something to review.

If you have any questions or anything, you can message me on Bluesky or use this form.

There are some general house rules which mostly equate to being nice, not using AI, and not exploiting the platform or others for nefarious means.

Also, I'm one person and I built this whole thing myself, and so there's likely going to be bugs and weird things that aren't clear. I've also done it on a shoestring budget so the servers might also be a bit ropey. We'll see how it all goes!

Anyway, I really hope you like the site, and I hope you find it valuable.

Art is forever!
